Lyrics
Since the emptiness is filled with light, since the earth is a companion,
I have seven friends, baptized, in the blood of martyrs,
Like a congress of ravens, born from the ashes of the dead,
Firm as an impervious forest,
Thus love grows with the rain, as a sun does rise, as tides nurse the shores,
Until the end of all existence,
Thus love grows with the rain, as a sun does rise, as tides nurse the shores,
Until the end of all existence.
Since the emptiness is filled with light, since the earth is a companion,
I have seven friends, baptized, in the blood of martyrs,
Like a congress of ravens, born from the ashes of the dead,
Firm as an impervious forest,
Thus love grows with the rain, as a sun does rise, as tides nurse the shores,
Until the end of all existence,
Thus love grows with the rain, as a sun does rise, as tides nurse the shores,
Until the end of all existence, existence, existence.
Art Concept and Commentary
This song is about a shepherd dog who has 7 friends who together form a wolf pack.
What is the main qualification of a dog? What is the matter with dogs?
The search for truth, which ultimately becomes knowledge that might gain entrance into worldview, is always an individual effort and a collective and universal concern.
Truth is usually a sure, trustworthy idea representing a thought or thinking within the range of the person's consciousness.
Germanic individuals started to associate with wolves more than a thousand years ago because they felt close to these animals. They told fables involving wolves and supported the existence of and care for dogs in their families and communities. With them, the German peoples recognized the value of wolves and their species. The dog became the best friend of many.
Why are dogs so highly regarded and accepted in certain societies?
Dogs can be considered animals that are able to adapt to a human person's assumptions about good and evil to some extent. Even though a dog has not committed "sin", they share in the guilt with their human masters because when the master is punished, so is the dog. A dog has an emotional bond with his human family. A dog can sense suffering, fear, anger and pain; hence, it can recognize such in its human master and consequently affects the dog.
The quality of a patriarchal network depends on the quality of group identity and collective consciousness. Hence, there must be sufficient men with quite developed worldviews who have contended themselves (successfully) with their own experiences throughout sufficient time by themselves (out of their own initiatives).
A person develops leadership competence and can be a good leader if he always contends with his own personal experiences thoroughly enough on his own initiative.
Even in ancient Germania, there were patriarchal networks with usually 7 fathers. Sometimes a woman also fought, as long as she had not yet become a mother. The groups can be very dynamic and there is usually a strong leader. The composition of the group can change over time, and a father can also leave the patriarchal network and join another (similar) one.
The highest truth of the group is usually given by the leader with the best worldview and then discussed and increasingly justified in the group. The leader is usually the one who has been able to justify the constitutional truth best, so that he can set the best example. The search for truth is both a universal concern and an individual endeavor.
If a group can no longer contribute sufficiently more to the highest truth, then the leading head usually leaves the group and looks for a new group (usually in a different environment) which can be led to greater love in order to advance the cause.
The animal wolf is symbolic of "male potency". It is about being able to lead (others) to greater love. This is the actual potency of a man and father.
A God relates to certain assumptions about good and evil that are maintained and orchestrated through a religion and its religious organization.
Through love, at least two persons unite, finding common ground through a shared group consciousness. With such a group consciousness and having at least two brains working together, those involved can grasp and understand larger societal contexts and dynamics better than the more isolated individual.
Through greater love, the individual can attain a better worldview.
A better worldview allows someone to assert their will in society better to achieve their goals.
Interestingly, love requires a minimum of freedom which requires a minimum of material wealth. A minimum of material wealth is required to symbolize the basis of the union, to make it tangible and memorable.
Love needs the presence of symbols that promote a certain group consciousness, as everything that can be expressed in symbols can (potentially) become conscious to a human being. Love is not possible without having a minimum of shared consciousness among the ones who celebrate love (among each other).
In terms of the Biblical Adam, the first "valuable" material wealth of Adam and Eve was the fruit from the forbidden tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Sometimes it is a good idea to share the material wealth equally among the group members (at least if the organization is a family).
Someone has freedom if they have the privilege of spare time they can freely invest in matters of the heart. If they can afford to spend time with others, elaborating freely on certain symbols and developing beliefs and human connections dear to them, they must have sufficient funds to do so.
The sheepdog in the song has 7 "friends" baptized in the blood of the martyrs. They are "friends" and not brothers, as they do not have the same father.
Nevertheless, there is a connection.
The point is that the sheepdog, whose job it is to keep the flock of sheep together and guard them, is bonded in friendship with a pack of wolves. So there is a dynamic between the two. It's not about the sheepdog not doing its job properly as a sheepdog or even betraying the shepherd so that the sheep fall prey to the wolves.
Through a martyr, a matter of God, which is not sufficiently enforceable in a particular environment, is escalated in such a way that it nevertheless achieves the greatest strategic effect and ultimately has a greater chance of prevailing in order to bring about lasting social change.
Through a (violent) death, a strong signal is set to clearly condemn someone or a certain people with a certain belief as "evil". Someone who (violently) causes the death of others who are considered "innocent" is naturally (in the long term) considered a guilty person by everyone.
This erases any tradition of the "murderer". No one would be able to truly take up and continue his (intellectual/cultural) legacy. He would be completely uprooted, like a weed.
The sheepdog thus uses its friendship to give a certain religious community (the flock of sheep) a strategic advantage in the struggles for confessional predominance.
It was a fundamental principle to evangelize and dominate the Germanic peoples.
Today, if a German who was baptized and raised as a Christian, an old Germanic line of descent whose name suggests wolves, comes after sufficient experience to the conclusion that it is not possible to maintain a good friendship with Romans/Italians, if he repeatedly finds out that an Italian/Roman does not mean well with him in the end, then his ancestors at the time of the evangelization of the Germanic peoples were most likely like the wolves described in this song.
With the Reformation and the creation of independent Protestant German churches, it was possible to preserve the traditions and existence of these valuable ancient Germanic lines of descent. Otherwise, the loss of Germanic/German identity was imminent. Therefore, it is very rare for a German whose ancestors go back to the ancient Germanic wolves to be Roman Catholic, otherwise they would have been exterminated.
This ultimately raises the question of whether Adolf Hitler, who came from a Roman Catholic Austrian family, was actually reborn as a “shepherd dog”.
